Childhood complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which entered into force on May 25, 2018. At Childhood, we want you to feel confident about how your personal data is processed. In our privacy policy, we describe what data is collected, what it is used for, the legal basis for storing it, how we manage it and how you can have control of your data yourself.
What data is collected?
We store the data that you have supplied, such as your name, address, e-mail address and telephone number. We also store information on the donations you have given us and the channels by which you have donated to us (for example, Swish, purchase of bracelets or monthly donor).
On our website, childhood.org, we also use cookies to collect data. A cookie is a small text file that is saved on your computer when you visit a website that uses cookies.
What is this data used for?
Your data is used to enable you to receive up-to-date information on Childhood and our work to prevent sexual abuse of children. It is also important for enabling us to find more donors who want to support our work.
The data we receive by using cookies is stored for technical reasons and to facilitate the use of our services, such as temporarily saving what the user puts in their shopping basket in our online store. Cookies are also used to measure the traffic on our website, for the collection of statistics and to improve our services.
On what legal basis is your data stored?
We store your data on the following legal basis:
- Consent – in the event that you have approved us storing your data. Consent can be withdrawn, but this does not affect the legality of the processing of your personal data conducted prior to the consent being withdrawn
- Fulfillment of contract – when, for example, you have chosen to become a monthly donor or make a purchase in our online store and your data is required to fulfill the contract
- Legal obligation – for example, the Swedish Book-keeping Act requires book-keeping documentation to be saved for seven years
- Legitimate interest – when it is necessary to process your personal data as part of our efforts to achieve our purpose, to prevent violence against and sexual abuse of children, and the donor’s interests and rights are not considered to carry greater weight, such as in the case of direct marketing or extending thanks for a donation. However, you always have the possibility to turn down communications from us
How do we process your data?
In accordance with GDPR, we guarantee that we process your personal data confidentially. Your personal data is only used for Childhood’s own work and is never provided to a third party, except for the suppliers with which we have a Personal Data Processor Contract. An example of such a supplier could be a company that handles the payments made on our website. The data is also never provided to a country outside the EU and is stored only as long as we have a legal basis to store it. To ensure that data is not stored for longer than necessary, we regularly check and erase personal data. If a donor has been inactive for the most recent 36 months and there is no legal basis that prescribes a longer storage time, their personal data is erased from the donor database after this time.
How can you have control of your data?
At your own request, you are entitled to be informed of the data we have stored regarding you and to receive this in a data portable format. Such a request must be made in writing and signed. If you wish to correct, erase or restrict your personal data or if you no longer wish to receive communications from us, you can send an e-mail to info@childhood.org.
By visiting our website, you approve our use of cookies, but you can deactivate them yourself by changing the settings for cookies in your web browser.
